The mission and/or main activities that contribute to being culturally significant:
Foundry Plays of Wilton, also known as Plays of Wilton, is a nonprofit (501(c)(3)) theater company housed at The Foundry. Under the direction of artistic force Ronnie Larsen, this organization dedicates itself to producing live and filmed LGBTQ+ theater—work that is deeply grounded in identity, storytelling, and community relevance. The Foundry sits right next to Island City Stage, making Wilton Manors notable for having two full-time LGBTQ+ theaters side by side—an unparalleled environment for queer performing arts in the U.S. Recent productions, including Torch Song, The Gay Marriage Plays, and TruckStop Sally, showcase their commitment to bold, evocative programming that resonates with local and broader queer audiences
